So yesterday I fell victim of the so-called "Cat distribution system", despite living in a slightly rural area where urban cats aren't supposed to appear out of nowhere (only, at best, wild cats such as ocelots, and certainly jaguars as well). Back in the late afternoons, I heard a meowing outside, and it wasn't any of the house cats, so I headed outside to take a look. Then I spotted this (uncoincidentally) female green-eyed ginger, and I tried to approach to serve her food; at first she was very scared but also very hungry so she eventually ate. As soon as she allowed me to do some petting, she became... quite a shadow, following me as I walked away, climbed onto my lap, tried to gently bite my ankle and forearms out of uncanny demonstration of affinity. Since then, she's sleeping on one of the cats' mattress, resembling a little fox. I left the door opened and she goes and comes, especially when she sees me.

I neither want (for multiple reasons, including but not limited to, I shouldn't became even more emotionally attached, although... maybe I'm starting to become emotionally attached due to how I felt slightly worried when she briefly left, or when my cats veer too close to her) nor can afford to adopt currently... yet I can't simply abandon her especially due to the neighborhood pack of seven patrolling dogs who can and will end up harming her if she wanders too far (she's a kitten yet)... Yet I can't simply adopt her especially due to the house cats, two of whom was hissing at her out of jealousy. I got caught by the cat distribution system when I shouldn't be. She's likely going to be named the Portuguese equivalent for "foxie" because she looks like a miniature fox. If the female black cat, one of the house cats hissing at her, only became friends to her, it would be a very... symbolic duo (red and black, untamed feminine energy).

Definitions of Safety are up-to-date

A comic like, absurdist drawing depicting an indoors office scene, with an executive (slightly bald man wearing suit and tie) being interviewed, saying "In fact, our company will make sure all our clients get the latest update. Behind the executive, a desk with two computers, one of which is displaying a classic Windows XP screen while the other is displaying the GNOME logo and a terminal emulator. Further behind, a door labeled "CTO" is opened at the left corner, revealing the inside of the executive's room with a computer branded "Hell" (pun on "Dell") and an AC unit branded "Ar-ctic" which is emitting some smog. To the right corner, there's a coffee break place with a water dispenser branded Hg:P (Hg is the chemical element mercury) loaded with a water jug branded "Poison fresh 7% Hg 20L" (mercury element again), next to a small table holding a smoking coffee machine branded "Anxiety" and a coffee mug labeled "HTTP 500" from which coffee is spilling all over the table. Above the coffee break place, another AC unit, this one branded "Air CO2ndition", reads a smaller label "Solar powered polluting device" and is also emitting some dark smog. The middle of the wall has a large window, partially blocked by blinds, showing a very surreal outside plunged into chaos: lots of fire are spread across a skyscraper skyline, with a nuclear mushroom raising at distance; a satellite is falling ablaze; two robot like silhouettes with red glowing eyes, both of which are wielding machine guns (Terminator), are firing towards a parachuting soldier who's firing back at the robots while falling from a plane which is falling down and ablaze; a meteor is falling down so fast it's accompanied by a sonic boom and lots of plasma from an ionized air; a caricatured Jesus Christ (a barefooted man with long white robe, red sash, holes on both hands and thorn crown) hovers mid-air, hands to his head as he screams "daaaad!!!" while looking at another figure (better drawn; actually She's the most detailed figure across my entire drawing) resembling the classic Hindu depiction of Samhara Kali (powerful blue-skinned feminine figure with multiple arms, wearing a crown, a skirt, bracelets and a collar of skulls), who's also hovering while staring directly at the viewer and wielding Her traditional weapons (trishula, scimitar, fire torch, among other sacred objects); a flying saucer is discreetly at the lower right corner, emitting a cyan beam; an avenue or highway is faintly visible with seemingly a car jam, implied from the trail comprised of red lights from car break lights, and there are some blue and red lights from emergency vehicles which are also stuck in the traffic.

I guess this is so far the most complex drawing I made (as in, a multitude of details within the same scene, including seven human-like figures and my attempt on drawing a QWERTY keyboard and a desktop screen until I gave up on the keyboard because drawing a QWERTY keyboard can be pretty boring), with small Easter eggs (some spoilers in the alt-text)...

Panel 1: a man (bearded, wearing white shirt with long sleeves, black long pants and dark blue shoes) is alone, sat down on the bench inside a subway train station. He's surrounded by a soup of absurdities: a fire extinguisher labeled "KeroZ-N" (pun on "kerosene") reads "Warn: flammable", an exit sign has a paper glued to it reading "Under maintenance / sorry for inconvenience", a public landline telephone whose receiver dangles from its own cable reads "NO LINE", the column between the rails point to "Abyss" to the right and "void" to the left, the PA system is announcing "Ding! Railway operations are still facing difficulties. The train is expected to arrive at: NaN AM. You can check additional information through our app: «where the heck is my train?» available on the Play Store and App Store" (NaN is a programmer joke). There's a clock-thermometer attached to the ceiling, it reads "02:59 A" (one minute to 3AM), "12⁰C" (quite chilly night) and a digital billboard showing part of an advertisement entitled "MyGrave": to the side of a illustration showing a coffin containing a man in a suit and fedora hat, and a bouquet of roses and an upside-down christian cross, there's the text "Home, sw" (truncated "home, sweet home") followed by "Comfy & priv" (truncated "comfy and private") followed by "MyGrave" followed by "check our app n" (truncated "check our app now") followed by a doodled QR code, the Android mascot with a sinister grimace, and the Apple logo with a serpent coiled around the apple. The man is downcast, looking down at his lap, both hands to his lap. There's absolutely nobody other than the man. There's no train, either.

Panel 3: same scenery, but now the owl is perched one-footed atop the bench back while gently touching the man's shoulder with the other foot, staring at him with the "sinister smile" typical of Bubo owls while also doing "boo-boo-boo-boo-boo..." (onomatopoeic roost call). The man expresses "sigh" and calmly/resignedly looks down with slightly closed eyelids. The thermometer now reads 3⁰C, and it's still 02:59AM. The PA system continues the dystopian advertisements: "We're constantly improving the experience for all users! Send your suggestions through the «Opinion bin» option inside the app «Pain Train»".

Panel 4: the entire scenery now plunges into darkness, only the clock and thermometer remains powered on, now reading "03:00 AM" (3AM, witching hour) while its thermometer reads a subzero 6 (-6⁰C). The owl is gone but not exactly gone: Lilith's silhouette (winged red-haired woman with long horns and long hair, appearing here as a dark shadow with glowing red hair, glowing white teeth with vampire fangs, glowing red nails, and glowing orange eyes, exactly same eyes as the owl's) wields a long scythe (whose sharp blade edge glows white), stands behind the man while looks down at him, smilin and touches his shoulder while saying in red text: "Expecting a ride?". The man, still sat down with the same static posture as previously, gets visibly scared, with startled eyes and open mouth. The PA system goes silent, and so does the billboard advertisement, which became a black screen below the clock.

Operadora Vivo manda anúncio via SMS. O SMS contém instruções "para parar de receber, mande SAIR para" um número lá. O SMS com o "SAIR" não chega até o número indicado, o app de SMS diz que "não foi possível mandar esse SMS". O "Não me perturbe", que já está cadastrado com meu número para não receber mensagem de marketing, funciona tão bem quanto secar gelo, já que continuo recebendo anúncio. A única alternativa que me sobra é essa: querem que eu visito o anúncio? Ótimo!, vou fazer tantas visitas que todas as requisições de visitação somarão megabytes de tamanho por segundo, e farei isso de dois endereços IP diferentes, de navegadores diferentes. Oi? não posso fazer isso!? Que pena, se um "opt-out" ao menos funcionasse, não é mesmo!?

Tip of the day: you can install Catodon as if it were an app in Android (and likely its forks).

In Firefox and its forks, access Catodon, then click/tap the three dots, then "More" (the next item after the "Extensions" menu item), then choose "Add app to Home screen", then click the "Add to Home screen" button.

In Chrome and its forks, access Catodon, then click/tap the three dots, then choose "Install and create shortcut".

In both cases, it'll create a new icon in your Android app drawer, which will open Catodon in a full screen page, i.e. no address bar or toolbars, which will only appear if you access some external website from inside Catodon.

Despite an app being essentially the same thing as an open tab (as both are using a browser under the hood), installing Catodon (and any website installable as an app) makes the browser to run it in a minimal environment, which leads to an even smoother experience.

When I do drawings, I use Autodesk Sketchbook (I even bought the premium bundle and can do premium things such as using custom brushes), as I became very familiarized with it. Then I saw some art posts mentioning Krita, then I wondered if there were Android ports of it (I heard about Krita before, but I heard about it in Linux contexts; sadly my laptop has no tablet input). To my surprise, I found it, except it's not available for phones through Google Play Store. Then I found that there's a F-droid version, dating back to 4 years ago, and I managed to install it (despite the September 30th Android sideloading restriction thing, maybe because I uninstalled the Android Developer Verification app).

Initially, the window-format UI spanned beyond the boundaries of my phone screen, but then I found out I could rotate to landscape and tinker with the settings to use the smallest font size possible. It kind of worked. Then I proceeded with trying to draw something. First thing I tried was finding the equivalent of "synthetic paint" brushes (oil painting). I even tried to search the web for extra brushes and tried to install one I found labeled as "zeroc0il" (but I guess it's made for more recent versions of Krita, as it seems like the importing missed a lot of things from the bundle). Anyways, I tried to tinker with what it gave me.

Initially I couldn't draw a thing, and then I guessed "there's something about touch sensitivity in the settings", found what I suspected, cranked up the lowest pressure to 100% (because my smartphone doesn't seem to have touch sensitivity detection) and it worked.

As I was drawing, I began getting used to some of its interface which resembles GIMP a lot (and I'm very familiarized with GIMP on my laptop). The following is what I managed to draw.

Finally, I wondered if I could export the layers so I could use it in Sketchbook. I tried exporting a .psd file with simple exporting, and when I imported it in Sketchbook, it resulted in a flatten picture. Then I tried .tiff (because Sketchbook uses TIFF for project files) and it also imported as flatten picture. Then I saw the "export advanced" and tried it with both .tiff and .psd again; .tiff wasn't even recognized when I tinkered with the exporting parameters, while .psd format offered no parameters to tinker but a "resize", which I kept unchanged, and, only then, i was able to get the layers I made in Krita into Sketchbook. Interesting.

Anyways, Krita seems better than Sketchbook, I see it got lots of customization, advanced brushes, etc... unfortunately it's for tablets and I have no tablet...

(Also, this owl ended up extremely similar to the Megascops kennicotti one I sculpted in 3D in Blender, even though I was actually intending a Bubo virginianus when I started doing the initial mass drawing of an owl silhouette from scratch)

Perhaps the definite iteration of my art. This is the owl-only version, from two alternative versions of the same art project. This version features a Subarctic Great Horned Owl (essentially a Great Horned Owl but with pale gray plumage, pale yellow eyes, more gothic-like appearance), with subtle anthropomorphic traits (including womanly eyelashes and red painted claws), depicted mid-flight. She's staring at the viewer and grabbing a heart-shaped claw tablet carved with three cuneiforms for the name of Ereshkigal (eresh, ki, gal, specifically as seen in Neo-Assyrian records) while two symmetrical pairs of pale gray hognose snakes emerge from behind her, one of the pairs emerging from below her wings towards the viewer, and the other pair spiralling counterclockwise around each other above her head, also towards the viewer. A large crescent Moon is seen behind, slightly above the owl's head as if crowning her. The background is solid dark gray because it's originally transparent background (meant for printing).

To recapitulate: I've spent days doing this (the evolution of the entire project can be seen in previous posts of mine) inspired on a Samhain illustration. Then I decided to add the snakes and the clay tablet with Ereshkigal's name. I dug through ORACC ePSD2 (electronic Pennsylvania Sumerian Dictionary) seeking to learn, in the most precise manner, how to write the name of Ereshkigal in a clay tablet (modern representation of cuneiforms significantly differ from their carving, and a same cuneiform appears differently across different Mesopotamian periods). I dug through taxonomic classification of snake species trying to identify if there's a better fitting snake species for this drawing (thought of using a Dendroaspis polylepis AKA Black Mamba due to her famous dangerousness, but this juvenile hognose snake specimen I saw from a Bilibili video seemed better). My Nokia smartphone struggled with the insane resolution I used for the canvas (4200 x 4800px).

Cropped screenshot of a note taking app with a note under a category name "Wtf", a category of which has 79 notes. The note is entitled "On the «Come Descend» ritualistic text...". The title is followed by a cryptic Ruby one-liner which essentially takes whatever's the output of termux-clipboard-get command (which takes Android's clipboard text to inside Termux console environment), iterates through each of its alphabetical characters, builds a frequency dictionary out of these characters, sorts said dictionary by count descending, then joins the reordered characters as a long string, which is seen at the line immediately after the one-liner, "EOLADITHCRFNSMUWKGBZPQY". Then, a blank line separates it from another chunk of text, which is the same reordered alphabet, split into two lines and with spaces between them, and the letters "J V X" added at the end (which are missing from the alphabet because the input text has none of these letters).

Come descend, eo Ladith!

(I feel I'm not spiritually allowed to share the "Come Descend" invocation I found and am anxious to try in the proper moment; I'm sharing its frequency alphabet instead)

I started the day (yesterday) looking up snake species, including their taxonomic classifications. As of the last couple hours, I've so far seemingly pivoted to... Looking up distinct Mesopotamic tablets containing the name of Ereshkigal.

Some Mesopotamic tables have no photo and no line art (i.e.the visual diagram of the identified cuneiforms), just the textual transcription. Others have photo but no line art. Others have just the line art. The second situation led me into this rabbit hole of trying to make sense of the originally handwritten cuneiforms, as in, the specific version carved onto the clay tablets, which seems very different from the modern cuneiform representation from archaeologists and the Unicode symbols... Speaking of which, the specific codepoint for eresh (𒎏, U+1238F, which is also nin, lady/queen) is broken on Android (as seen in my previous usage a few characters before this very parenthetical aside).

Anyways, now I have an entire new album on my phone entitled "linguistic - Mesopotamia". And several freshly-hoarded photos of snakes too.

Why, you may ask? Because I added a snake to my earlier to-become-a-t-shirt artwork, and the owl is holding a fragment of a Mesopotamic tablet with the name of Ereshkigal.

(Why do some Mesopotamic tablets have holes drilled through them? To me it seems like attempts (either modern and/or ancient) to damage the name and memory of Ereshkigal/Alatu...)

Panel 1: inside a dark and wild stone cave, a pink rat is downcast before a shrine containing a statue of a great horned owl flanked by two lit red candle sticks, and a lit incense stick before the statue. The incense smoke raises vertically, ending in a spiral-like tail. The rat is slightly crying, his mouth slightly opened as if saying something.

Panel 2: still recoiled before the shrine, the rat looks startled at the owl statue's face as both the incense smoke and the candles flames are suddenly pulled to the background of the cave, as if being sucked by some vacuum afar. There's a "??!" overlay next to the rat's head, and the rat is sweating.

Panel 3: the scene zooms slightly into the rat. While he's still recoiled before the shrine, with the owl statue still before him, he's suddenly caught by an actual, larger great horned owl, who restrains the rat with one foot at the top of his neck, the talons visible around his ear, and another foot to the other side of the rat, next to his thigh and tail, and the owl's belly above the rat's lower back. The rat expresses fear while simultaneously expressing some unexpected affection, with heart shapes overlaying his fully-startled eyes and his tongue further recoiled to inside his mouth as if gasping.
Panel 4: scene cuts to a close-up of the rat's and the owl's faces, both staring at each other. The rat has a pleading expression and pouting closed mouth as if he wants to kiss. The owl, holding up the rat, is revealed to have an uncanny face, with most of the typical appearance of a dark brown Great Horned Owl, except the owl's eyelids have prominent yet tender, human-like (womanly) eyelashes, slightly red lips (although the lip contours are those of a Bubo owl, and the red doubles as subtle blood leftover from a recent carnivore diet), pale yellow eyes with green tapetum lucidum inside the pupils and a purplish glow at the contour of the pupils. Both the owl's and the rat's eyes are reflecting the image from the lit candle at the shrine, as well as a faint silhouette of the owl statue there. The owl's expression is calm yet deeply serious, looking at the rat.

À luz do show de horrores que está pra acontecer nos EUA (uma execução pública por pelotão de fuzilamento, que, como se não bastasse a execução em si, os arcontes estadunisenses estão cogitando transmitir essa porra ao vivo), uma "curiosidade" sobre as leis e política brasileira:

O Brasil tem "pena de morte" como espécie de "relíquia" da ditadura militar; chama-se "Código Penal Militar" (Decreto-Lei Nº 1.001, 21/10/1969), em seus Artigos 355 a 362, 364 a 366, que falam sobre punição com pena de morte para tempos de guerra.

Aí uma pessoa ingenuamente pode falar "ah, relaxa, o Brasil não tá em tempos de guerra"... exceto que o Brasil está fadado a experienciar uma das seguintes situações após o segundo turno:

1. Caso Flávio Bolsonaro seja eleito, Jair Bolsonaro, ditando no Brasil através do "meat proxy" seu filho (sem contar a possibilidade de que Flávio dê a tal da anistia como presente ao "paizão"), declara aliança incondicional às guerras declaradas pelos Estragos Unidos, com participação ativa das FFAA em todo a zona de guerra que os Estragos Unidos formou e formar em outros países (exemplo: Irã), o que provavelmente colocaria o Brasil em guerra declarada contra esses países, o que por consequência colocaria o Brasil em guerra. Nesse sentido, imagino, o tal do "Super presídio" que Flávio já anunciou poderia ser tanto um "espaço de recrutamento forçado" para sacrifícios ao altar do exército quanto um espaço para aplicar 356/361/363/364/365 do Código Penal Militar àquelxs que se recusarem.

2. Caso Lula seja eleito, 8 de Janeiro terá sido estalo de festa junina perto dos mísseis estrago-unidenses num repeteco "invasão noturna a Caracas" a ser perpretado pelos Estragos Unidos com auxílio dos lambe-saco-estrago-unidense das FFAA brasileiras (acho que é de conhecimento público que parte das FFAA, especialmente generais, são bolsonaristas). Não acho que outras potências (como China) vão intervir, muito menos "hermanos" (inclusive um dos "hermanos" vai é acabar se oferecendo gratuitamente como espaço para posicionamento de artefatos de guerra estrago-unidenses porque estão sob gestão de um sujeito "ancap" que como muito (se não todo) "ancap" abertamente lambe o saco alaranjado).

Por que ninguém, desde a redemocratização até hoje (inclusive Lula!) derrubou essa relíquia da ditadura militar chamada "Código Militar Brasileiro"? Até inclusive tem uma Lei 14.688 de 2023, sancionada pelo vice-presidente Alckmin, que tece alterações ao Código Penal Militar, embora as partes do Código mencionando pena de morte permanecem intocadas...

Triptych collage of sequential frames of a Bilibili video featuring a pink mouse next to an Eurasian Eagle-Owl perched on the floor indoors. In the first frame, the mouse sniffs the owl's talons while the owl stares down at him. In the second frame, the mouse knees and leans himself at the owl's belly, and the owl still stares down at him. In the third frame, the owl raises one foot above him, while he recoils next to the owl's other foot. I then added a quite lazy dialogue:

Frame 1, mouse: "m... mom?"
Frame 2, mouse: "Mom? Please take me to the skies? With you?"
Frame 3, owl (in red and black typography): "No."
Frame 3, mouse: "Oh!".

Yeah, a very anticlimactic dialogue.
