Paid Time Off Hypocrisy

Trump and his oligarch friends do not give a wit about the working class, in fact resent us. They would rather work us to death like slaves at a sugar cane plantation than treat us with decency even if the latter is more profitable to them.
This is why in the US labor unions have had to claw all of the worker treatment regulations that existed (and are no longer enforced) in the workplace, from the weekend and forty-hour work week to safe working conditions.
Since it’s easier for the owner class to bust unions than it is for workers to form them, civilization might just be screwed until we figure out how to universally teach class consciousness.

Remember that part of the project is to destroy any trust that existed in the other branches of government prior to trump. In support of “unitary executive theory”, essentially an American monarchy led by an untouchable king.
Already done with the supreme court and well on its way in congress, with the decade plus of GOP obstruction since 2010 especially.

I used to beat this drum pretty hard until I learned/realized just this week that ostensibly this is so representatives can spend time amongst the people they represent.
Obviously there’s no strict laws governing what they do with their time and they are only accountable to re-elections for that, so the potential for slacking off is tremendous, especially in the age of R vs. D being virtually the only thing worth mentioning come election time.
“Sure, I’m never in DC working for you and I’m never back home listening to you, but at least I’m not a filthy [other party]!” is a convincing argument for a staggering percentage of American voters.
You don’t understand, the MAGAs are SWIMMING in money like Scrooge McDuck, and they know the party is about to end. Once they lose control of Congress, much of the flow from the Sociopathic Oligarchs will divert to the Socialists. So they’re going to party like it’s 1999 on all that campaign cash, going to expensive dinners, staying in expensive hotels, flying on private planes, etc.
You can’t possibly have all that fun, er, do all that work, while being constantly hassled in the Capitol Building. They have to get back to their home districts, and AVOID their constituents.
It’s a myth that Congress gets this many days off. They work very hard begging for money and making promises.

THE HERO THIS COMMUNITY NEEDS!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂
Massie being the closest thing to a decent person in the GOP wasn’t an accolade.
The Sociopathic Oligarchs are getting really pissed of that we’ve decided not to work so hard for them. If my efforts don’t benefit ME, and only benefits THEM, then I’m not going to bother. I’ll just work for myself.
Sure, I could work harder. But that requires a higher salary…
Serious question. What are they supposed to be doing in the meantime?
What fucking timeline is this where I agree with thomas fucking massie?
I think this is what happens when you remove Republican incentives to lie, of which there are a lot. Most of their policies will still be bad, but almost everybody has a good side to them.

It’s hilarious because it’s upvoted on a community that supports work reform. Yet they upvote the tweet of someone who has voted against their every interest. Ah to be so simple!

It seems one can agree with a person on one issue and not others. Fortunately Lemmy attention isn’t very valuable, so we don’t have to pretend that upvotes here are deteriorating the fabric of society in quite the way they did on reddit.

If you plan to upvote just want to provide context on Thomas Massie:
He is not a friend of the working class! aflcio.org/scorecard/legislators/thomas-massie
Over the past 10 years he has continually and consistently voted against worker rights in multiple aspects.
He now got booted out of his party so he will say whatever he can to try and get votes in the future. Remember, he can say all this stuff but when it comes to votes, he will vote against your interest. Amplifying his cute tweets will cause more harm than good for the worker.
Thomas Massie should not be considered a friend or ally of Work Reform!
Thats not the intention of up/down voting.

Obviously not for simpletons
