Thinking about the way that sheet music is rarely used in Irish traditional music, and indeed how you can be an Irish traditional musician without knowing sheet music. At the same time I hate the whole "sheet music will ruin your creativity" argument because it's not true and because it obscures a more interesting truth which is that in Irish traditional music you cannot use classical proficiency as a substitute for actually listening to the music and learning our cultural practices.
