I think americans are willing to be as russophobic as they are because all the things the mainstream media/US state department says about russia (corrupt oligarchy, takes things by force, bigotry and LGBTQ discrimination etc etc) are *exactly* the things america has been doing, out in the open, for most of our lives.

Does it feel better to blame it on someone else, or to "both sides" fascism and oligarchy? Does that feel right, somehow?
