Nearby Glasses

* Note: I have not tested this with actual glasses. Read the disclaimers about usage too.
I’ve never figured it to work, already tested it several times nearby glasses, didn’t recognize one My eyes are faster than BLE scanner xD
That app is much older than a week. I’m seeing last update 4 weeks ago and I’ve had it installed for what feels like a year or so, but might not be that long.

Jesus Christ man how do devs not even try to hide AI usage anymore. From the thumbnail alone of this article, I zoom in, and I can immediately tell it’s Gemini 3.8 Flash that made this UI. It’s getting ridiculous
a free Apple iOS app called Zuckoff
I’m sure some of you will take issue but this is NOT a free app. There are in app purchases for more features. Free means it’s all free.
But think of the developer! They used a week worth of tokens and an entire evening to have AI build it!

Can we just wrap up this arc and get to the part where meta lets anyone opt into a “Smart Blur” function which prevents them from being recorded on Meta Glasses, but you have to set up a Facebook account with recent pictures of yourself for it to work?

What, you want them to give even the illusion of control in this day and age? Do you know how expensive that is?! Think of the poor company! /s
Is there no way in which these technological marvels will not surpass us average joes?

This article seemed to be partially a pitch for camera-less smart-glasses… which I’m okay with. Camera-less smart glasses would be nice to have. Just give me wearOS for my face.

As long as they’re also mic less. You can do just as much privacy invading with an open mic.
I used to love my bose frames. I would use it to listen to music, but they obviously had a mic, and it was great for phonecalls.
If you don’t like mics, oh boy, that’s everyone with headphones

Ehh, phones have mics, and most people have a phone in their pocket these days. If you’re walking around in public, you should know that there is likely a mic nearby, so you should act accordingly. I’m not condoning public recording, it’s just the world we live in. Look up your local laws, some places require both parties’ consent for recording (honestly unrealistic these days but can be helpful in court), and some places only require one party’s consent (meaning people are allowed to record their conversations with you without telling you).
Remember not to incriminate yourself. It’s good to know when to be quiet.

Seems a lot less useful without a mic though, and it’s super easy to hide a mic without smart glasses. The camera is only problematic because it’s otherwise really hard to hide one on your person.

Yes, but who wants to be staring at their phone all the time.
Maybe they could make a smart glass-app to warn about smart glasses.

Not enough coverage. I need asmart hat with lenses facing in all directions looking for anyone who might be wearing lenses that can warn me if one shows up.
