Personal views. Director of standards for OASIS for a decade, and then its general counsel & CPO, launching and coaching cooperative open source and open standards projects, mostly in cybersec, AI security, trade, civic tech, and data protection. Still a practicing lawyer, as well. Alignment lawful-good in a chaotic-neutral industry. (Otherwise probably I'd have stayed on Wall Street.) Ex-corporate law partner, ex-Minnesota, LA-based. Still also @jamiexml on Bluesky and (rarely) X/twitter.

This time we also had time to dawdle through #Montreal 's Basilica, and Château Ramezay across from City Hall. It served at one time or another as territorial HQ for three of the four nations contending for control up here, over a century or two. The old building has seen a LOT. Great interpretative exhibits. 🇨🇦

I think the last time I was here, it was with an OASIS colleague, hired away by a competitor shortly thereafter. She was new to our kind of standards, but expert and helpful with our earliest open source community efforts. I think the conference was in late November. 🥶
Though I grew up at this latitude (45°N, midcontinent big snow), still, I like
#Montreal's September better than early winter. I'm spoiled by Los Angeles now.

Finishing up a few pleasant, sunny days in #Montreal. Got our business done, and proceeded to the restaurants and shameless tourism.
