This post from Amazon’s Automated Reasoning Group a couple of months ago was pretty good (missed it at the time, but found it earlier today when I was talking about formal methods with someone else): https://www.amazon.science/blog/a-decade-of-mathematical-certainty-reflections-on-the-automated-reasoning-group #aws #mathematics
This Duo review from The Verge was pretty good; if you get that little perverse thrill from having to relearn some stuff and have what’s boring and predictable be new and a little weird again, you’re going to like this. https://www.theverge.com/tech/1015028/iphone-duo-review
I love tech history, and this writeup on the history of the URL is a great retrospective (I even learned a couple of new things, and also enjoyed some great callouts to protocols and systems I haven’t thought about in a long time). https://blog.cloudflare.com/the-history-of-the-url/
Finally got around to listening to Above & Beyond’s ABGT 700 show from The Gorge … man, this is one of their best mixes in years. Justine Suissa on vocals is particularly good. https://music.apple.com/us/album/group-therapy-700-live-from-the-gorge-amphitheatre-dj-mix/6814417859

*sigh* rather than seriously considering the MathAndAI dot org declaration from 28 Fields Medal winners (including Terry Tao), OpenAI just plowed ahead full-steam and released another 372 major results in mathematics around unsolved problems (although the proofs are reportedly nearly impossible to independently understand—but verification via Lean appears to be included for many—and read like the author was stoned).
I will tap the sign, once again, even though none of the AI companies are paying any attention. #maths #mathematics
Google just announced a 20-year deal with Constellation Energy to bring 890 megawatts of new nuclear capacity to the grid. (Constellation is investing over $4 billion in renovation and new construction on entirely new capacity.) https://finance.yahoo.com/energy/articles/google-signs-4-3-billion-111947905.html
I wonder how long until IP space used as a source for agent activity will be like IP space used to send spam back in the early 00s — blacklisted and permanently unusable https://wikimediafoundation.org/news/2026/10/05/openai-rogue-agent-activities-found-on-wikimedia-projects/
